Kindergarten Ready?

Summer Learning PathThe global pandemic has caused many milestones to be canceled or changed: weddings, parties, and graduations. This includes the most adorable of all graduations, the sweet preschool graduation where children transition to “big kid” school.

When my daughter graduated preschool last year, it was a bittersweet moment. I also questioned if she was academically ready to start kindergarten. I’m sure many of you have heard that kindergarten now is like what first grade was “back in the day” when we were children. Questioning about academic readiness is compounded even more with the fact that our 4- and 5-year-olds missed out on the last few crucial months of preschool this year.

If you find yourself wondering if your new kindergartener is ready for school in the fall, Waterford Upstart Summer Learning Path could be a great program for your family. Waterford is a national early education nonprofit that wants to provide 500 New Mexico families with a free summer learning program.

Supportive, Personalized Program

After 2.5 months of my kids at home ALL THE TIME, I’m running out of ideas of what to do. When you add in working from home and the daily tasks of caring for a family, I’ll admit that sometimes our educational time never gets done. Total mom guilt moment. But hey, we are all trying our best, right?

Summer Learning Path requires only 25 minutes a day, 5 days a week of your child using the online program. This keeps kids on track to be kindergarten ready in time for the new school year. In addition, you receive weekly calls from a personal coach and push notifications on your cell phone. These let you know what your child is learning and ways to continue that engagement offline.

Summer Learning PathAs parents, we all want to help support our children’s learning, but sometimes I feel like I don’t know what to do or unsure of myself as a teacher. The Summer Learning Path program will help empower you as a parent and make summer learning fun.

So, if you are looking for some guidance on how to navigate a summer unlike any other (thanks COVID!), definitely check out Waterford Upstart’s free Summer Learning Path. If you do not have access to the internet at home, Waterford will provide internet installation and tools, such as laptops to families free of charge.
