Hello fellow Albuquerque Moms!

I’m Sarah Chancey and I am totally pumped to be joining this amazing team of ladies! I am a wife, mom, Believer, small business enthusiast, huge Star Wars fan, and all around super nerd. It is so nice to meet you!

On Albuquerque

Ladies, this is my city! I was born and raised right here in the beautiful 505. Balloons, roasting green chile, walks in the Bosque, hikes in the Sandias, NM United games, and blue cloudless days are some of my favorite things! My real love is for the beautiful people and the amazing businesses of our city. Albuquerque has a rich and unique blend of cultures and that is never more evident than in the small community. I have been so proud to be part of that community for nearly ten years working in human resources and small business administration and look forward to many more. So if you have lived here forever like me or are still new to the neighborhood, welcome! I hope that you find as much to love here as I do.

On Being a Mom

I have been a member of the motherhood for almost 12 years now! There are days when that seems like an unbelievably long time and other days when I feel like I have been doing this gig my whole life. My son was born in 2008 when I was just 22. I was able to be a stay-at-home mom for the first 18 months. I am super thankful for those months with him. But I learned that staying at home was not the gig for me! Since 2010 I have been rocking the working mom life. My daughter was born in 2014, and I was back at work just two weeks later. It was very different from the first time around, but we made it work. Being a mom is the best job I have ever had even on the rough days!

On Getting to Write for ABQ Moms

The only thing I know with confidence about being a mom is that it would be impossible without a whole community of people to support me. I am so thankful for the people in my life that have been my own personal hype crew (like my husband, parents, and friends) but also for the wider world of moms out there that have supported me through articles, social media comments, and even funny memes. Being a mom is hilarious, rewarding, and fun but sometimes it is also really super hard. I hope I can be one of those helpful voices to you moms out there by letting you know that what you are doing matters and that you are doing a great job of it!
