Hola! Hi!

Mi nombre es Nicole.

Spanglish is my articulated language some days more than others. Yet, the language of love is one I am most fond of.

About Me

I am so much more than my name and language though. My birthplace, food, and my people are at the essence of who I am. Coming from the tri-border city of El Paso, Texas, the Rio Grande resonates with me as it holds the history and culture of my family, connecting three cultural worlds to form who I am continuously working on awakening. I am perfectly imperfect just like the Rio Grande. The earth is my heart. And my heart is the earth which naturally has led me to fuse the workings of many healing modalities through understanding myself in direct relation to the world.

I am a deep thinker and inquisitive by nature leading me down the path of volunteerism and education. Currently, I am the New Mexico Air National Guard’s 150th Civil Engineering Flight Key Spouse and one of the educators at Sol Forest School. I am just your ordinary crazy plant lady, essential oil loving, juicing junkie, CHICANA momma. My ears and arms are always open to listen, give a heartfelt embrace, or just be in each other’s presence por que, Mi Casa es su Casa.

Enchanted to Return

The rhythm of the earth drives me, and the spirit of the Southwest desert enchants my heart feeding my soul. Albuquerque’s unique place in New Mexico highlights the beauty of its majestic Sandia mountains, which was one thing that called my family and I back after some time in the Midwest. Although I am not a native Albuquerquian, I do stake my claim to being one-third New Mexican. The embedded ancient Native American cultures, the Spanish and Mexican influences in food and traditions, and the rugged terrain are what keep us here indulging in the richness of what New Mexico has to offer.

La Madre

Motherhood: the cycle of my life es una vida bella. I’m raising a busy BEE toddler in a dual cultural world with everything from homemade tortillas to scratch biscuits and gravy all while dancing to cumbias or two-stepping in the kitchen. My journey of motherhood has led me to the self-discovery of new and old. During my journey, I have been working hard to transcend time about the land in which my husband and I are rooted, planting seeds and braiding the traditions and knowledge of our ancestors in our teachings to our child. Additionally, intertwining and encouraging curiosity, independence, and awareness of self in our family, community, and the earth. And most of all, educating and embracing our little one in the highest frequency . . . amor.

Unspoken Pressures

Breaking the societal ideologies and burning them down has taken time and lots of tears, but it has allowed for freedom of expression through love, movement, and writing. I no longer feel the pressure to conform or withhold what I am truly feeling or needing to express. This liberty, although not always easy to shake, is one in which I feel passionate about sharing with all women. We are unstoppable and capable of many things. I am a long way from knowing everything, but what I do know is that the space we occupy in this world is purposeful and uniquely our own. I want to help amplify our voices and space and transcend time together. You can follow me on Instagram @nicole.j.walker.
