It’s New Mexico. We enjoy tacos every day all day. So I think we should be able to enjoy a margarita year round too! Just because it’s a little chilly out doesn’t mean we need to hide the tequila. (But, of course, drink responsibly, mamas.)
So here’s a recipe for Holiday Margaritas that puts a little festive spin on the traditional margarita.
I served these recently at ABQ Mom’s team holiday party. And they were a huge hit. So I couldn’t keep the recipe to myself. Serve these at your next holiday gathering for an extra dose of holiday cheer.
Holiday Margarita Recipe
Ingredients (serves 4)
1 cup tequila
1 cup cranberry juice
1/2 cup lime juice
1/2 cup Triple Sec
1/4 cup coconut cream
1/2 cup coconut rum
Garnish
sprigs of rosemary
whole cranberries
sweetened coconut
coarse salt
Directions
1. Freeze your festive ice cubes.
I have some giant ice cube trays, but you could do this with regular size ice cube trays as well. Freeze a few cranberries and a sprig of rosemary with water. Once they’re frozen, add some to each glass to make it so pretty!
2. Garnish your glasses.
Using a two-to-one ratio, combine 2 parts sweetened coconut and 1 part coarse salt in a food processor. (I had a lot of people over, so I used one cup of coconut and 1/2 cup of salt.) Grind coconut and salt, and put in a bowl. Dip the rim of glasses in water and then in the coconut/salt mixture, which will result in snowy glassware. Pretty!
3. Slice the limes.
Slice your limes and garnish the glasses because it’s Christmas. We need red and green in more than just our chile.
4. Mix up a batch!
Combine tequila, cranberry juice, lime juice, Triple Sec, coconut cream, and coconut rum. Shake it. Stir it. Or put it in a blender. Serve over ice and enjoy!

I love a good margarita and adding garnish to my glass makes me feel fancy even if I’m just home in my leggings. I need to try this recipe out.
You won’t regret it. This is a yummy one!
