Toddler Approved Meal: Easy BBQ Pineapple Meatballs

0

I’m always on the lookout for an easy, toddler approved meal. One can only eat so many chicken nuggets, right?

Wrong, according to my toddler.

But in the interest of providing him some sort of variation, I am always on the hunt for something that appears like a chicken nugget to him, but (surprise!) is different.

BBQ Pineapple Meatballs fit the bill in our house and are in consistent rotation. I do not claim that this recipe is healthy in any fashion. So my Mom of the Year award will have to wait. But it is easy and delicious (even for the parents!).

Easy BBQ Pineapple Meatballs

Ingredients

  • package of frozen meatballs (I purchase a resealable bag of turkey meatballs from Costco so I don’t have to make an entire bag if I don’t want to)
  • 1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce (I chose Sweet Baby Ray’s Hawaiian BBQ sauce)
  • 1 cup of pineapple juice

Directions

In a crock pot, place the desired amount of frozen meatballs (I usually do about 12-15 meatballs). Then mix the BBQ sauce and pineapple juice together and pour over meatballs. Cook on low for about 5-6 hours.

Voila! Easy, toddler approved meal.

Throw some veges on the plate (if your kids are angels and actually eat vegetables). Or if your house is more like mine, throw some fries on the plate and you are good to go. My 3-year-old and eighteen-month-old gobble this meal up. We usually save the leftovers and reheat for lunch the next day. My husband and I also enjoy this meal with a side of vegetables and mashed potatoes.

Check out the recipe where I got my easy, toddler approved meal idea inspiration. She gives ingredients and directions on how to make home-made meatballs. But I’m just a) too lazy b) find squishing raw meat between your fingers vomit inducing and c) I just don’t like cooking, ha!

I hope your picky toddlers find this meal as yummy as mine do. And please share your easy, toddler approved meal ideas with us!
