Green Goddess Dipping Sauce :: The Melting Pot Copycat Recipe

My husband is OBSESSED with the Green Goddess dipping sauce from The Melting Pot.

It’s one of our favorite date spots. We ask for gift cards each Christmas and then use those for a long date night together.

Three hours eating delicious food and catching up without a toddler talking nonstop? Yes, please!!

We recently got their Valentine’s Day Box and took it to an in-town getaway. It was such a treat! My husband was talking about how much he loved the sauce and I got thinking . . .

I can make this! I love cooking and experimenting in the kitchen.

So I took on the challenge and made a copycat recipe for the Melting Pot’s Green Goddess dipping sauce.

It was so good!

We piled it on top of baked potatoes and dipped some chicken in it. Having it in the baked potato was my favorite part of the meal.

But there are so many ways you could use this sauce!

Use it as an appetizer with some veggies.

Or stuff it in some large portobello mushrooms after roasting them in the oven. I think using this recipe for stuffed mushrooms and adding the sauteed mushroom stems and garlic to this Green Goddess sauce would be heavenly!

It would also be delicious with steak.

You could even modify the herbs in the sauce to change up the flavor.

Use some parsley or even dill for a bit of a different flavor profile. Just play around with it and see what you prefer.

The actual sauce at the restaurant has chopped white onion. I’m not a fan so I did onion powder.

But you can use diced onion (like in this recipe) if you enjoy it.

This recipe will make enough for four people to top baked potatoes and dip chicken.

Ingredients:

6 oz. cream cheese

6 oz. sour cream

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1/2 tsp. onion powder

1/8 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. pepper

2 Tbs. fresh chives (or use 1 Tbs. chives and 1 Tbs. parsley)

Method:

Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, beat the cream cheese and sour cream together until smooth. Add in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until incorporated. Add in the herbs and mix on low until just incorporated.

Variations: You can mix and match herbs to alter the flavor profile. Parsley and dill would be a great choice. If you’d like a thinner sauce, add a tablespoon of milk at a time until you reach the desired consistency.
