Let’s Make Chili
I love making chili! Truth be told, I just learned how to make it this year–kind of embarrassing to admit–but it’s better late than never. And let me tell you, I don’t know how I’ve gone this long without making it. I make this for dinner at least once per week.
When I found this super easy chili recipe online, I of course had to tweak it to make it my own. There is nothing like having a hearty meal full of flavor at the end of the day. I have tried it with cornbread, frito pie, and chili dogs. I love them all!
Ingredients
Makes about 6-8 servings. Prep time: 5 minutes.
1 Tablespoon Avocado Oil
1 Teaspoon of Chicken Flavor Bouillon
2 Garlic Cloves
Garlic Salt
Lemon Pepper
Salt + Pepper to taste
1 bag of Cheddar Cheese
1 lb Ground Beef (or Turkey)
1 10 oz Can of Fire Roasted Tomatoes with Green Chili UNDRAINED
1 26 oz Can of Pinto Beans UNDRAINED
1 16 oz can of Red Chili sauce
Instructions
- In a large soup pot or Dutch oven, heat the oil over medium heat until hot. Add the garlic cloves (whole) and sauté them until they break apart (about 8 minutes).
- Add the beef and season to your liking. I season with some garlic salt and lemon pepper. Stir often to break up meat. Cook until it loses its pink color (about 8 minutes).
- Stir in the tomatoes and beans with their juice. Bring to a simmer. Once it’s simmering, add the 16 oz can of red chili sauce. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to taste, then let it simmer (about 15 minutes).
