Hispanic Heritage Month is from September 15 – October 15. And here in Albuquerque, there happens to be a rich Hispanic tradition. We have much to celebrate when it comes to Hispanic Americans’ contributions to our city and country.
We are grateful to the National Hispanic Cultural Center, located here in Albuquerque, for sponsoring this round-up of resources.
September 15 marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, a month-long national celebration designed to commemorate the contributions of Hispanic Americans to art, culture, and other fields.
For anyone who doesn’t know the history of this month, it began in 1968 as a single week of celebration, tied to the anniversary of the Cry of Dolores, which marked the start of the Mexican War of Independence and eventually led to independence of a number of Central American countries along with Mexico.
The National Hispanic Cultural Center is pulling out all the stops to bring you a month of fun, educational, and family-friendly programming. You can find a few of the highlights below, and don’t forget to check their events page for a full list of upcoming programming!
