Things to do in ABQ: Spring Events for Pregnant Ladies

1

Being second trimester pregnant in the spring is so lovely in Albuquerque. We have amazing weather days. And it feels so nice to be outside when it’s sunny and in the 60s. Unfortunately, some of the spring activities I normally partake in are off limits or unreasonable–hot yoga, long hikes, mountain biking. This spring my priorities and abilities are quite different and so is my agenda. Here are some of the great events I’m taking advantage of in the coming months.

Prenatal Yoga

Did you know you can participate in the Lovelace Labor of Love Birth Education Classes even if you aren’t having your baby at Lovelace? So great! They offer a prenatal yoga class on Thursdays and Saturdays. You have to register to ensure there’s enough space. But it’s free to attend! I’m looking forward to the opportunity to get some exercise and meet other women in my condition. You can see the schedule and register here.

Non-hike Trails and Routes

Strenuous hikes up Sandia are no longer an option. I can hardly walk up a hill without being winded these days! Fortunately, Albuquerque has lots of leisurely, scenic options for those of us pumping that increased blood volume and carrying some extra weight. The Open Space Foothills Trails have so many routes to choose from. You can make your walk as easy or challenging as you like. Paseo del Bosque Trail and the Tramway Bike Path are both paved, scenic, and relatively flat. Paseo del Bosque Trail follows the river along the west side of Albuquerque. The Tramway Bike Path parallels the Sandia Mountains on the east side of Albuquerque. These are two beautiful ways to make the most of our mild spring temperatures. Both are great for bringing your pup and/or pushing a stroller. Just make sure to bring doggy bags to clean up after your pet!

Farmers’ and Growers’ Markets

There’s nothing better than being out in the sunshine, eating delicious food, and buying local produce. It’s like the spring trifecta! I am so excited for all the farmers’/growers’ markets to open up. Here’s a list of some of my favorites with their start dates:
